I am a freelance writer, journalist and blogger. I write about the economy, politics, government, housing, growth and development, and social issues like poverty and homelessness. I write for a variety of online business and news organizations, including, The Business Edge, a publication of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce; Inside Business, a publication of the Gateway Regional Chamber of Commerce; and Patch.com.

Duties included covering municipal and county governments.
Key issues were governance, development, planning, environment, transportation, business, housing, real estate, poverty and jobs, the economy, and health care, education and changing energy uses. I also wrote a weekly column about the people of Morris County.
Skills needed were data analysis, written and verbal skills, interviewing, working a beat or issues in an organized fashion that produced results.
Strengths are dogged attention to the job, highly productive and effective work ethic and innovative approaches determining what was newsworthy and creating a process to obtain it.
In 14 years, I produced thousands of bylines, won local, state and national awards for my work and was on the ground floor for several key efforts that changed the way some topics were presented in Morris County, N.J.
January 1991 - January 1997
Successfully completed the tasks of improving weekend coverage, election night coverage, local news reporting, and was assigned with reporters to Hunterdon County in 1996. Between 1996 and 1997, the Hunterdon County edition was the only edition of the Courier-News to gain circulation, seeing a gain of 1,000 papers, or 20 percent.
January 1984 - January 1991
I was charged in my time there with running the newsroom during evening production of four zoned editions. In my time at the Sentinel I was also city editor, state editor and was charged with the supervision of three bureaus and 15 reporters. Directed staff, selectionn of news stories, production, training.
January 1982 - January 1983
Successfully reversed the fortunes of a struggling weekly newspaper. Revived news coverage, redesigned layouts, improved community relations.
Accepted the owner’s challenge of reinventing the paper in six months.
In 18 months, reversed financial losses, raised circulation 50 percent and managed the site as rental property.
