HR Officer/Advisor

HR Assistant/Secretary

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust
I started this employment as a temporary Personal Assistant and then accepted the role of permanent HR Assistant/Secretary where my duties included:

• CRB checks
• Reference checks
• Recruitment
• Liaising with unions and maintenance of union lists
• Investigation and disciplinary note-taking
• Stationery ordering and maintenance
• HR Reception duties
• All other general admin and secretarial duties

I was then promoted to Trainee HR Officer and then 6 months later HR Officer where I provided HR support and advice to managers and staff of the Facilities, Women's and Children's directorates throughout Eastbourne DGH, Conquest Hospital (Hastings) and Crowborough Birthing Centre. This role included:

• Dealing with the interpretation and implementation of Trust policies and employment legislation
• Development of Trust policies and procedures
• Disciplinary and grievance investigations, reports and presentations at hearings
• Performance reviews and Individual Performance Procedure issues
• Recruitment and Retention Strategy
• Staff Inductions
• Interviewing and recruitment of senior staff
• Modernising the way staff work
• Absence management
• Ensuring that HR satellite staff were fully conversant with their HR responsibilities and providing training where necessary
• Exit interviews
• All other aspects of Operational HR

I then went on maternity leave for 6 months and upon returning to work I moved into the Agenda for Change office as an HR Officer/Advisor. My duties included:

• All the duties listed in the section above • Providing admin support on all AfC matters
• I was a trained evaluator and sat on AfC Review Panels where I evaluated hospital staff's jobs and determined the correct salaries for these
• Limited involvement in Consultation Meetings

• Evaluated HR Assistants training needs and arranged and delivered some training sessions

After being promoted my duties included:

• Providing employment and financial references
• Recruitment including interviewing
• Staff Inductions
• Disciplinary advice and reports
• Setting up new user friendly office systems
• Monitoring adherence to the Working Time Directive
• Monitoring staff absence for approximately 550 staff
• Monitoring staff appraisals and one-to-ones

I left Sainsbury's as my post was made redundant. I was offered the position of Assistant Personnel Manager but turned it down as I was soon relocating to Eastbourne.

I resigned from this post as I needed a change
