Worked in Public Works Dept., Govt. of Tamilnadu in India for 3 years; designed and executed watersupply and sanitation systems in many areas in Tamilnadu. Served as an academician in Regional Engg. College, Warangal, AP for 6 months and then at IIT, Madras for 34 years in the disciplines of Mechanics and Design. Was a Chief Design Engineer and Professor there. Did a lot of consutancy works.Did my Ph.D. in USA. Has done Postgraduate work in USA for 2 years. Was a Principal of an Engineering College at Chennai for 8 years. Dean (R&D) for about 11 years in Perundurai and Erode, Tamilnadu. Helped to get patents, to frame academic curriculum, offered courses both in India and in USA. Was given awards as the best teacher both in India and in USA. Worked in Energy. Written a book on 'Engineering Mechanics' and in Biomass energy. The Ph.D.thesis was evaluated as one of the very best. Responsible to make an institution to get its autonomy and another institution to be accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, India. Concentrating on writing books on 'Pressure Vessel Design', 'Fluid Mechanics and Machinery' and 'Engineering Thermodynamics' .The book on Engineering Mechanics has been revised and the second revised edition is available in the market. It is detailed in 'Amazon.com'. Biomass energy generation
Biomass energy is a renewable one . Energy Plantations, agricultural wastes, animal dungs,degradable wastes are some of the ingredients fetching biomass energy. It would be my thinking that engineering colleges and science colleges can generate laboratories in which classification of energy fetching can be made and the viability may also be analyzed. Public or Private enterprises can be invited to generate the energy. This would substantially reduce the import of fossil fuel, thereby saving foreign exchange and improve the economy of the country. Energy plays a major role in reducing the prices of the commodities and concentration on biomass energy being one of the renewable sources will encourage also the agricultural sector which will push away the urban population to the rural areas which is a healthy endeavour. As examples Ethanol and Methanol have been proven liquid fuels. besides gaseous fuel such as biogas and solid fules which can be directly burnt without environmental pollution. India being a tropical country, this can lead in the type of energy and show its leadership to the rest of the world. By converting wastes into energy, hygiene and environmental cleanliness will certainly improve. The per capita consumption of energy in India is far less compared to the developed countries and hence the self-sufficiency in energy generation, with the supplement of other forms of sources. Opportunity to execute if available, I shall certainly involve in rural areas.
