Melissa Gessner is a Detroit-based writer and creative director who is passionate about ideas and expressing them in compelling, unexpected ways. Beyond building strong brands through advertising and marketing, Melissa’s expertise includes creative strategy, social media, scent marketing and experience design. Clients include PNC Bank, OhioHealth, Teflon, Cat's Pride, Comedy Central, Mercedes, Jeep, the Detroit Historical Society and the Chrysler Design Awards. In addition to being a lot of fun to create, the work has won awards that include Site of the Day, the One Show, Cannes Lion and the New York Festivals.
Projects and positions include serving as Communication Chair of AIGA Detroit, the Detroit Historical Society Marketing Committee and lecturing at the College for Creative Studies. Melissa is the former Editor-in-Chief of Birmingham Magazine and a contributor to the book, What Is Your Life’s Work? (2005), Clear Magazine and to Model-D, an on-line magazine that works to promote urban renewal in Detroit.
