Eating the Sun, Feeding the Moon

Up to June 1994

Tashi, a young artist shattered by the senseless death of her fiancé, flees downtown Montreal for the jungles of Costa Rica, only to find herself in the wild interior of her own heart.

Initially resigned to spend the remainder of her days without love, she plunges into her new life in a foreign land of lush vegetation and breathtaking sunsets. Drawn into a steamy love affair with Dylan, whose reserved manner conceals a character forged in the Philadelphia ghetto, she becomes his soul companion and the "Other Woman" in his troubled marriage with Becky, an all-American girl with whom he is building a homestead in the jungle. Convinced that she and Dylan are meant to be together, Tashi's spiritual aspirations entwine with her overwhelming desire for union with him as she struggles to control the outcome of their stormy romance. Finally her passion for Dylan leads her to the brink of collapse and the ultimate realization that she must sacrifice her desire for sublime union so that he may fulfill his destiny on his own terms.

Based on a true story, Eating the Sun, Feeding the Moon has strong characters, gorgeous descriptions, and an adventurous plot that takes us on a sensuous journey through a tropical paradise on the verge of devolving into yet another tourist mecca. A woman living on the edge, Tashi explores, embraces and paints an exotic landscape that often mirrors her own wild nature as she delves into the deep recesses of a late twentieth century woman of Heart.

BuBaa Bushcraft Baacdeh

Bushcraft skills are often basic ideas and abilities that humans have employed for millennia to survive and thrive in the natural world. Hiking, building shelter, making fire, procuring food and water, fishing, trapping and hunting, as well as many other outdoor activities, all require basic wilderness survival skills in order to navigate the natural world and to handle emergency situations. Knowledge of medicinal plants and their uses is equally important to survival.

Bubaa's jungle excursions provide bushcraft training in order to meet the basic necessities for human life. You will assimilate the principles and acquire the practical knowledge and skills necessary to safely navigate not only the jungle but also other unfamiliar terrain; the fundamental principles and techniques are readily applicable to other environments.

The ability to live in the extreme conditions of the jungle will increase your confidence that no matter what lies ahead you will be able to thrive outside the reaches of the technological world and a collapsing global economy. With each challenge overcome, your self-confidence will greatly increase and soon what seemed daunting will become second nature to you.

We encourage the development of resourcefulness and autonomy, as well as teamwork. We trust you will complete our course having connected with the wisdom of our ancestors, the original bushcrafters, and also have gained greater knowledge of yourself and your relationship with the natural world.
