Microsoft licensing and partner projects

for Microsoft outsource company solving complex licensing and deployment issues for UK and Irish Microsoft partners in industry and academic institutions. Role required extensive knowledge of Microsoft server, desktop and business software. The role was a technical and licensing advisory for large corporations and Microsoft Resellers, which required extensive technical and licensing knowledge across all Microsoft products. Because of my previous wide technical experience, my primary role was as technical escalation point for other members of the team. The major technical focus was Windows 2003 server, Systems Management Server, Small Business server, Microsoft Operations Manager, Exchange 2003, Terminal Server 2003, Office 2003.

I ran an advertising business with 10 people. We solicited retail/catering/services companies for part of their advertising budget for door-to-door advertising. Gained Office management experience, Sales experience, Human Resource management experience, US accounting experience, US tax experience, Advertising experience, and Document design experience.
I also operated a part-time business in computer hardware repair, software installation and maintenance and kept up to date on the latest operating system software releases from Microsoft.

Technical Project /Systems Engineer

Worked as part of larger project team to implement Tivoli network management suite in Bank of Ireland in Cabinteely, Dublin. My project had responsibility for implementing User Administration and Domino management modules. This required expert technical knowledge of Tivoli, NT, Domino and Solaris UNIX. Data had to be migrated seamlessly from existing systems into Tivoli so that at project end, all account management functions for NT, Exchange, Domino and UNIX had just one user management interface on Tivoli. The role also required working with a Tivoli development team to code for the migration, and to provide test data for code testing. As part of this role I had to manage a" test and proof-of-concept lab" where I had responsibility for all functions. My function was also to plan and execute project implementation to the branches to ensure all change management requirements were met and also that the migration went according to plan. This also involved devising rollback procedures. Also worked on the Systems Management modules of Tivoli to manage the NT services on the domino servers.

Worked as technical project engineer as part of larger project teams that implemented Windows '98, NT, Microsoft Exchange and Tivoli across the Dell Corporation worldwide. Prior to the implementation Dell worldwide systems were on a Novell based network. The majority of servers were Novell with some UNIX in the manufacturing area. Desktops were Windows 3.1 and the email system was Lotus cc:mail. Worked initially on test labs and proof of concept labs on technical migration issues through code fixes and software updates to pilot rollouts. As part of the lab team we developed project plans for testing and rollout and worked with Microsoft and Tivoli engineers on software bugs and technical issues. As part of the implementation program I was the technical lead for the desktop rollout and had to ensure that all change management procedures were followed correctly. This involved working with the programming team to code an unattended install of Windows '98 using Tivoli distribution software. The initial part of the project was the implementation of the Tivoli distribution server architecture. The Tivoli servers were run on UNIX and a Tivoli agent needed to be deployed to each workstation. Once implementation commenced we could rollout to hundreds of workstations per night on an unattended basis. The second phase of the migration was to migrate all Novell servers to Windows NT. This involved migrating user accounts and permissions as well as data shares and public folders. The final phase of the rollout was the migration to the new Microsoft Exchange email system. This meant that during the course of the migration project two email systems needed to be maintained, both Lotus cc:mail and Microsoft Exchange and gateways had to be maintained between both systems. After rollout in the US, I spent 6 months in Tokyo as technical project manager on the rollout there of an exchange Internet gateway for Kanji and far Eastern...

Was also administrator for Lotus cc:mail and Lotus Notes email networks. I was the Lotus cc:mail and Lotus Notes administrator for Dell Europe with responsibility for about 2000 users. All gateway servers were under my area of responsibility and I was the technical escalation point for all other administrators in Europe. Was also responsible for administration of Lotus Notes servers and was also the technical escalation point for the European Administrators. I was also UNIX administrator maintaining 4 servers, which acted as gateway servers for Tandem and Vax functions. I also had responsibilities for Excel and Word training. Also was responsible for Newbridge and Cable and Wireless telecoms equipment.
