1. Design, Construction, Calibration and Performance Evaluation of a
Renewable Energy Vehicle.

In partial fulfillment of my degree I, along with two group members, were required to design a
renewable energy vehicle as a final year design project. The aim was to create an intracampus
transport vehicle capable of being charged off the Mechanical Engineering Faculties wind turbine.
The project required an extensive literature review into previous designs which had been
developed for this purpose. Through this literature review a feasible design, in terms of cost and manufacturing, was developed. Once the preliminary design had been approved we obtained all
materials and manufactured the vehicle using the University's workshop facilities. The vehicle was a three wheeled electric recumbent trike. The project received fantastic reviews and a very
positive reception at our final year open day. I received a first class pass for my contribution to this project.
