Engineer for Renewable Energy Systems

Developed and programmed VBA based software for monitoring project (Housing New Zealand) in order to collect, evaluate and process data of different renewable and standard hot water systems for domestic households. This monitoring project was considered to be the biggest of its kind in New Zealand.
Assessment, evaluation and interpretation of processed monitoring data; preparation of monthly monitoring reports; supported maintenance activities through the provision of monitoring results.

Consulted to Niue’s power corporation. Drew up technical specifications for an EU tender. This was based on site visits, and included feasibility studies, assessment of compliance with Australian/ New Zealand and international standards, concept developments and concept discussions.

Developed and specified modular support systems for freestanding PV applications, suitable for extreme wind loads, non-corrosive, easy to maintain and simple to build up. These systems have been designed and developed for the equatorial and south Pacific. My design work has been verified and confirmed by certified independent engineers. A prototype system has been built.

Developed and specified weatherproof switch panel boxes, designed for an easy and safe interconnection of PV systems with main power grids. Design and specifications have been based on Australian/ New Zealand and international standards. Two available switch panel box systems are based on my conceptual design work, suitable for single phase as well as for three phase applications.

Prepared a preliminary energy analysis for AgResearch’s demo dairy farm in Tokanui.

Drew up P&ID’s for wineries. Analysing refrigeration, heating and piping systems of wineries (processing capacities from 2,000 Tonnes – 18,000 Tonnes).

Feasibility studies and economic analysis of a future winery (processing capacity 18,000 Tonnes) including development of appropriate Excel-tools and assessment of several processing aspects such as effluent disposal or waste water treatment.

Supporting risk analysis consultancy such as HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) for a Biodiesel plant. Supporting preparation of a preliminary dust explosion hazard assessment for a shed at the port of Napier. Supporting preparation of a proposal for acid tanks in compliance with HSNO requirements (HSNO: Hazardous Substances and New Organism Act 1996).

Development and VBA (Visual Basic for Application) programming of database software for the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism of the Australian Government in regards to the Australian legislative EEO program (EEO: Energy Efficiency Opportunity) from 2008.

Analysis of international standards in regards to accounting, validating and verifying greenhouse gas emissions (ISO 14065:2007, ISO 14064-1:2006 and ISO 14064-3:2006). Development of an environmental management policy including impartiality policy according to ISO 14001:2004.

Analyzed new pressure recovery applications (PX-technology) for the Benfield process (natural gas purification). Analyzed complex HVAC systems in a vaccine production plant. Determination of Carbon footprints.

Analysis, calculating, dimensioning, planning, procurement and commissioning of industrial HVAC systems for the Deutsche AIRBUS plant in Nordenham and the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen, Germany.
