Discovery, Description and Rediscovery of fresh water fishes of of India
Discovered 13 new freshwater fishes from Kerala, India. They are Glyptothorax elankadensis, a cat fish from Elankadu of Idukki district in Kerala, Mystus indicus, Mystus heoki, Mystus menoni, Mystus keralai four new bagrid fishes discovered and discribed from Manimala River of Kerala.Horabagrus melanosoma, a blackish cat fish discovered from central Travancore. He also collected and described a five anal spined from Kabani River of Wayanad, Kerala; Macrognathus fasciatus, a spiny eel with distinct vertical lines on body, discovered from water bodies of Kerala; Macrognathus albus, a dirty white colored spiny eel without any bars or bands described from Manimala River; Plamoottil discovered two Puntius species from Central Travancore; Two new Systomus species were also discovered and named by Mathews Plamoottil; Mastacembelus malabaricus, a spiny eel was rediscovered after one and half century from Wayanad, Kerala. Pristolepis marginata, a percoid fish, was rediscovered after one and half century from Mananthavady River of Kerala. Pristolepis malabarica was rediscovered and redescribed from Manimala River of Central Travancore. Mystus armatus rediscovered from Thrichur and ressurected it from its synonymy with Mystus oculatus.
