My main duty was to source for new business as well as servicing the existing clients. We got our business from tour operators and travel agents both local and from abroad. Our other sources of business were corporate organizations, non- governmental organizations, government ministries, banks, insurance companies and individual travellers.
Apart from marketing the hotel, I also performed the duties of the Manager on Duty where I had to oversee the smooth running of the hotel in all departments. That is, I had to make sure that we had enough food and drinks in the store to cope with any emergency that might arise in terms of increased number of guests. I had to solve any complaint that arose either from the guests or the staff.

I was awarded a three months consultancy service to oversee the completion, recruitment, training and the opening of this hotel. This was awarded to me by one of the directors of Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort in Kampala as he was very satisfied with the way I had performed my duties while working as the Front of the House Manager at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort.

in this five star property during its inception and opening by the Ugandan government. This property then belonged to the government of Uganda and I was recruited by the same government. The property is an all suites hotel and accommodated only heads of government during the commonwealth meeting CHOGAM hence its name. I effectively ran the front office and housekeeping department during my stint here during and after CHOGAM. Despite other expatriates

I had to ensure that there were no over bookings and under bookings in any of the four units. I co-ordinated my staff very well in their work and worked very closely with tour operators and corporate organization to make sure that they were satisfied with our services.

My work was to oversee the running of the organization and do general planning especially with regards to ensuring that we worked within our budgets and made profits while making sure that our standard operating procedures were adhered to. I must emphasize here that I did a very commendable job as the company rose from a loss making organization to a profit making entity by the time of my leaving.

I joined this institution as sales and marketing executive and left while holding the position of senior sales and marketing executive and as the acting head of the sales and marketing department. By the time I was leaving, I was the acting sales and marketing manager. I represented the company in various marketing exhibitions like the EIBTM in Geneva Switzerland in the year 2000. I also represented the company in the Arabian Trade Fair in Dubai in the years 2001 and 2002 and lastly but not least, I represented the company in the Motivation Show in Chicago USA in the years 2001 and 2002. My marketing skills brought very good business to the hotel from these trade fairs. Even our participation in our local Sarit Travel Trade Exhibition brought us very good business. I co-ordinated the sales team in our target market and ensured that we stayed ahead of the competition.

I managed both positions very effectively by good planning. My marketing was geared solely towards tour operators especially on flying safaris from the coast and Nairobi. I ensured that I had a very effectively supervisor at the front office whom I delegated to work while I was away marketing.

Having been one of the best students in college, the college decided to employ me at the Utalii Hotel in the front office department. Apart from training students practically, the hotel is a profit making institution and we had to make sure that it operated professionally while realizing profits. Apart from working as a cashier, I also worked as a receptionist as well as a reservations clerk. I was also deployed to work in the food and beverage control department for a while before being made the night auditor reliever. The night auditor took over the running of the hotel completely at night. I was involved in practical instruction of the front office, hotel management and service advance students on how the front office operates.
