•Provided individual counseling services for 350 students in 9th through 12th grade.
•Served as the lead guidance counselor for the 2012-2013 school year.
•Utilized multi-cultural counseling competency serving a diverse student population.
•Served a significant population of English as Second language learners from refugee camps in Nepal and Myanmar (around 30% of the student population).
•Raised the percentage of students applying to college from 50% to 65% from 2011 to 2012 through targeted guidance strategies.
•Developed a more streamlined 5 year plan and scheduling process.
•Coordinated a North college fair and the North High “Unplugged” events. Community agencies came to speak with students each month on a variety of personal, social and college-readiness topics.
•Created innovative parental outreach initiatives including “Counselors at the Game” nights and parental presentations.
•Served as a team member on the Intervention Assistance Team, Ready High School Team, the Aspirations Team and School Improvement Team.
•Provided academic, personal/social, and career classroom guidance lessons.
•Collaborated with administrators, parents, teachers, outside counseling agencies, community members, hospitals and the Akron Police Department.
