I did 100% of the electronic hardware design including digital, analog, power supply, communication and audio circuits for our product “MegaMix” (sometimes referred to as the “MegaMix Automation System”). The Magazine “UP BEAT DAILY” (The official NAMM Publication) rated this product as one of the 10 “hottest” new products introduced at the Summer 1986 NAMM show.
As the chief engineer, I developed excellent communication skills with the customer.
MEGA-MIX AUTOMATION SYSTEM
In the mid 1980s, I formed a start up company called Musically Intelligent Devices, Inc. with a marketing man who brought a product concept, a software writer and myself. I did 100% of the electronic hardware design including digital, analog, power supply, communication and audio circuits for our product “MegaMix” (sometimes referred to as the “MegaMix Automation System”).
We introduces our product “MegaMix” at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show at the McCormick center in Chicago in the summer of 1986. We developed this product with a total budget of less than $10,000. The Magazine “UP BEAT DAILY” (The official NAMM Publication) rated this product as one of the 10 “hottest” new products introduced at this show. See the associated file “Upbeat.PDF. REVERSE ENGINEER OBSOLETE MAGNETIC SENSOR
Reverse engineer a magnetic sensor that Toyota uses to detect current in the rear window defroster. The original part and electronics in this automatic test system had become obsolete. Set Toyota up with replacement electronics and assembly.
LOW EMI DIGITAL DESIGN
I did a digital design that had very stringent EMI requirements. I did the layout on a 6 layer board with top and bottom layers ground plane. Top component layer “fan out” so all connections were very short traces to vias and all routing on the inner layers. I used “stitching vias” around the perimeter of the board to “stitch” the top layer ground plane to the bottom layer ground plane making the board essentially a Faraday cage. The board meets and exceeded all EMI requirements.
