Chemistry Teacher Tertiary

Summary:

Taught organic chemistry to medical students for 16 years. Taught organic chemistry at all tertiary levels from first year to PhD. Currently jack of all trades teaching General chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry at under-graduate level. Will be teaching cell and molecular biology next semester.

I love research and have worked on plant alkaloids, carbohydrates, organometallics, supramolecular chemistry. Have expertise in structure elucidation using NMR.

COURSE DEVELOPMENT

2.
Developed a practical for H163 where students use thin layer chromatography to qualitatively analyse for caffein in medcines and beverages.

3.
The content of the H163 course was radically changed and improved by prescribing the textbook "Focus in Chemistry" by Novaldo Tro. The text is written for students with no chemistry background at school and who will after one semester in chemistry not pursue any further courses in chemistry. The text was also prescribed for the H133 course (General chemistry for Domestic Science). 1999.

4.
The C154 course was rationalised so that certain targets can still be reached. It was necessary since the course had been shortened in 2000 from 70x40 to 42x50 minute periods. McMurry, which had been prescribed, was replaced by Bailey and Bailey in 2001. Study guides that relate the text book with the course was developed.

5. Translation of C154 course to English in 2002 (Adapting the Chemistry 111 notes in English to the C154)
6. Developed a new practical course for Chemistry 344 in 2003.
Accepted an appointment at Mission College/Asia-Pacific International University and developed the following courses. Any person who will offer these courses after me will walk into a well developed system since I have made programmes and summaries, and have selected the contents from the text to be covered.
7. Chemistry 151 - General Chemistry I for Biology students (2008).
8. Chemistry 152 - General Chemistry II for Biology students (2009).
9. Chemistry 311 - Organic Chemistry I for Biology students (2008).
10. Chemistry 311 - Organic Chemistry II for Biology students (2009).
11. Mathematics 120 - Survey of Maths for the students from other faculties (2008).

Convenor

Chem B164 and Chem G164.
6. 1997 - Chem G164 and Chem H163 (Chemistry for Domestic Science students) (Convenor).
