Originally for a 3 month contract I was taken on in a permanent role providing mapping support to officers and assisting the council migrate from Mapinfo to ESRI
East Northamptonshire Council
From September 1997
Working within ICT services, I provide technical support for both East Northamptonshire and Wellingborough Council of the ESRI product suite (10.1)
It is my responsibility to:
Update all Ordnance Survey data.
Provide GIS support to all members of staff including training
Develop and maintain geo-processing models (model builder)
Administer corporate data within ArcSde and departmental file geodatabases
Create & update refuse & recycling and garden waste routes using RouteSmart while supporting other council’s use of RouteSmart
Upgrade the ESRI product suite to the latest versions
Maintain the spatial element within IDOX Uniform
Maintain and develop ‘Local View’ web based mapping which is key to distributing spatial information to end users.
Create and maintain bespoke web sites administered through ArcGIS Server
Analysis of demographic datasets such as Experian to target service delivery
When required I liaise with external suppliers for the procurement of GI data and software, negotiate maintenance contracts or act as specialist advisor to senior management during procurement projects.
We merged with a neighbouring council where I migrated MapInfo systems and data to ESRI.
