As Principal, I managed all aspects of the business including:
• Marketing/Sales, using available resources to make contact with potential/prospective customers, cold calling at job sites and following up leads passed on from clients.
• Established the design of cabinet requirements through in-depth discussions with the client. This would include offering alternative design ideas to facilitate customers' needs and wants within the limitations of the space. Form and function always the first priority, then the price as it relates to the customers budget requirements.
• Price job appropriately keeping in mind current market conditions established through follow up on past quotations.
• Tender pricing to customer.
• Establish further contact with customer to get the order and negotiate if necessary. Ask the customer for feedback with regard to price, quality and who the competitors were on the project.
• On winning the bid, recheck established dimensions for correctness and adjust design if necessary.
• Procure products specific to the project.
• Manufacture cabinets from scratch and finish to customer's specifications
• Install cabinets to customer satisfaction.
• The last two functions although simplified above were accomplished by myself or by up to four employees tasked with various jobs to accomplish the production and quality controls required to produce a superior product to the market.

• Maintenance of filing system for customer drawings and AJF reference numbers for customer reordering their parts in the future.
• With the advent of desktop computers, AUTOCADD was installed and later a CAM program was also installed to assist in the production of parts. Through further education and training, I ran the department for another 1.5 years before promotion to estimating and sales.
