FROM 1 FEBRUARY 1995 I TOOK OVER THE BENONI FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES CONTRACT, WHICH WAS ENTERED INTO WITH THE COUNCIL. MY DUTIES WERE TO NSURE THAT ALL ASPECTS OF THE CONTRACT WERE ADHERED TO IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CITY SECRETARY, CITY TREASURER, CITY ENGINEER AND PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT.
ON 1 OCTOBER 1995 I WAS APPOINTED AS ASSISTANT CHIEF: TRAINING, PUBLIC RELATIONS AND TECHNICAL SERVICES. THE TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT CONSISTED OF: ROAD SIGNS & MARKINGS, PARKING METERS, PARKING GARAGES & PARKING AREAS AND TRAFFIC SIGNALS. DURING 1997 TO 1998 I WAS ALSO TASKED WITH THE DUTIES OF THE ASSISTANT CHIEF: ADMINISTRATION. THE SECTIONS I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR WERE: ADMINISTRATION OF THE PROTECTION SERVICES, FINANCE, PROCUREMENT, ASSET MANAGEMENT, SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AND MUNICIPAL COURTS. SINCE OCTOBER 2000 I WAS ALSO TASKED WITH THE DUTIES OF THE ASSISTANT CHIEF: LAW ENFORCEMENT. THE STAFF CONPLIMENT I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR WAS 186. MY JOB TITLE WAS CHANGE IN 2000.
