Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAPSA)
Marinda has presented a lecture at the South African Institute for Consulting Engineers (Gauteng Branch) in 2001 covering existing Environmental Legislation and how it affects engineers in all disciplines. In 2002, she acted as external examiner for post-graduate students in Town and Regional Planning at the University of Pretoria. She provides guidance as study leader for Town and Regional Planning Masters' students at the University of the Free State on an ad hoc base. In August 2004, Marinda co-presented a lecture at the International Association for Impact Assessments (Vaal Branch) regarding cultural-historic sites and objects, based on the requirements of the National Heritage Resources Act of 1999. In October 2004, 2006 and 2008 she presented lectures at the University of the North-West’s Centre for Environmental Management as part of a course on Social and Heritage Impact Assessment. Ms le Roux has presented an Environmental Awareness session to contractors of the Coega project, incorporating the CDC guidelines and SHE principles. She championed the drafting of course material for in-house environmental awareness training and for training sessions with site staff.
In 2003, the SA Certification Board of Environmental Assessment Practitioners has acknowledged Ms le Roux as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP). As certified EAP, she strives to carry out professional activities in accordance with emerging principles of sustainable development, the highest standards of environmental conservation and quality, and in compliance with the letter and intent of relevant environmental legislation. In 2006, The SA Certification Board of Environmental Assessment Practitioners appointed Ms le Roux as a Board Member and evaluator, with the duties of evaluating new applications of EAPs.
