I am a teacher, primarily ART but have gotten roped into doing journalism, photography, yearbook, cheerleading and pep club, Whole Language, etc. etc. in my 20 years plus in the public schools of Missouri and Wyoming! Spent five years working for hastings entertainment as first a video manager and later back in Missouri as book department manager. Loved that, too, but couldn't make any money...my book, CD, and DVD compulsion and super company discount were my downfall! I am currently teaching art grades 6-12 for The Missouri Military Academy. This upcoming school year will be my 10th at the Academy. Absolutely love the exposure I get at MMA to students with a multitude of experiences...sharing art and music and philosophical views makes teaching there even more enriching and satisfying. Unfortunately, after 10 years I am being replaced and am currently without employment after June 30. But, I'm also closer to all of my family and am looking for anything that will cover the mortgage payment and keep me here so I don't have to move again! We're all in Missouri again, except for my sister who is still doing the horse thing in Virginia. My son is still in Wyoming with his father. He's a true native of Wyoming...all he knows of Missouri is summer heat and humidity, and winter snowstorms!
Visual Art Classroom Instructor, 25+ Yrs Exp
I am an experienced visual arts instructor with over 25 years teaching in the public schools of Missouri and Wyoming. I am also certified in Missouri to teach English 7-12 and worked for Denver Public Schools as a whole language K-3 instructor for one glorious year. Other areas of interest that I have taught HS thru adult ed levels are graphic arts, photography, and journalism (yearbook) and my degrees in both English and art lead me to a high interest in teaching set design, allied arts, humanities, etc. as well as studio art and crafts of all sorts, including Native American, folk, and multi-cultural crafts and needlework.
