6 and half years of tertiary midwifery care at Waikato Women's Hospital in Hamilton New Zealand. Antenatal, post natal , delivery suite and Womens' Assesment Unit ( acute and booked clinics)
I have looked after women with HELLP syndrome, eclampsia, premature rupture or membranes from 24 weeks onward, Type l Type ll and gestational diabetic women ( and their babies post partum) diet controlled and insulin dependent ( AN , PN and in labour) , twin pregnancies and women with IUGR babies ( growth restricted) and many other conditions needing tertiary care.
Waikato Women's has a BFHI status, ( baby friendly hospital initiative ; launched by WHO and UNICEF in 1991 to protect , promote and support breastfeeding ) and so the midwives working here have good training and breastfeeding support skills.
