Service Manager

London Borough Council

With a £30m+ budget, the brief was to remedy people management issues and develop the use of the Council's Centres for people with a Learning Disability.
* Successfully negotiated amendments to the PFI Contract to extend the use and opening hours of the Centres which ultimately increased service user attendance and Council revenue.
* Acquired capital funding via a business case to transform one of the Centres into a secure Autism Centre; a unique facility within the local community which also attracts out of borough service users. This Centre operates at 100% capacity.

* Introduced efficiency savings by establishing business plans and objectives for each Centre linked to the revenue budget, together with developing managers' people management and business planning skills through tailored Learning and Development programmes.
* Increased attendance from out of borough service users by actively marketing the Centres which included a heightened web presence and Virtual Reality Tours on the Council website.
* Raised the quality of personalisation and reablement of people with a Learning Disability by introducing CQC Standards, which is not a regulatory requirement for Centres.
* Worked proactively with Trade Unions where strategic objectives and organisational restructuring impacted on their members.

With a £2m+ budget collaborated with this CCG to introduce management and care Vocational Awards within this regeneration area of London.
* 45 Nursing and Residential Homes acquired Vocational Awards. Organisations ranged from single site facilities to leading operators such as Bupa Care Homes.
* Introduced Care Home profiles and action plans which can be used for inspection and commissioning purposes.

Pilgrim Homes
Performed a strategic and operational qualitative review of 14 Nursing and Residential Homes against the 'Investors in People' business standard.
* The Charity gained accreditation, on the first assessment, as 'Investors in People'.
* Significantly improved staff retention and managers' performance within 12 months.
* Raised the standard of management skills through the delivery of Learning and Development programmes to all executive and operational managers throughout the UK.

Yad Voezer
Over a 10 year period delivered strategic advice and Learning and Development services to this Charity that provides Residential and Supported Housing services to people with a Learning Disability.
