Manny Legorburu Fernandez

Donostia-San Sebastián, Gipuzkoa, Spain

I have the remarkable ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and emotions through words. This skill has allowed me to write successful short films, presentations, and advertisements of all types.

Work History

Teacher English/French

From May 2013

I meet with individual clients and practice their conversational and vocabulary skills in English or French. I adapt the conversations to the profession of the client. Example, if the client works in the tourism industry, we will practice the words and situations which he/she will encounter while working. Based in San Sebastian.

National Sales Manager

Jose Mª Gallastegui y CIA (JOMA)

April 2010 - March 2013

JOMA is a hardware products manufacturer in Mondragón. I was responsible for the entire national sales network (28 sales reps): hiring/firing, objectives, incentives, large accounts, new products, etc. I created and implemented a marketing plan which increased our product line and placed our products in our distributor's sales catalogues.
Sales for the year 2011 increased by 22% over 2010 and surpassed 2009 levels. Sales remained steady during next 2 years despite the severe economic downturn.

Spa Natura Resort

February 2009 - November 2009

Spa Natura Resort is a 5 star vacation resort in Peñiscola. I was responsible for all sales and marketing initiatives. I smashed all sales records in my short stay.

Grupo Musa

March 2008 - August 2008

Musa was marketing/advertising agency with 17 employees. I was responsible for the entire agency: creative direction, graphic artists, sales reps, large clients, etc. I left after 5 months because I was lied to about the financial well being of the agency. Musa closed 3 weeks after I departed. Most employees were owed several months' pay at the time of the agency's closing.

Fincas Fernandez

August 2007 - September 2008

A real estate agency based in Benicarló. The real estate bubble and ensuing banking crisis negatively affected the agency. Though I found buyers and sellers, financing would never come through as banks stopped giving out mortgages.

Grupo Sansano Valero

January 2007 - July 2007

Sansano Valero was a construction firm specializing in wood ceiling and wall paneling; it was a high-end product. A family run business in which the daughter was an incompetent Sales Manager. I was fired 3 weeks before 2 massive contracts for the Zaragoza Airport and the Denia Hospital were signed. These 2 contracts were found and nurtured by me. I was fired so as not to pay me the corresponding commissions. The company lived off these 2 contracts for 18 months and subsequently closed.

Office Director

Piso Perfecto

April 2006 - January 2007

Piso Perfecto is a chain of real estate agencies throughout Spain. I was hired to run their Benicarló/Peñiscola/Calig office. I had a secretary and 5 agents under my command. My office was the only fully staffed office in the region, and we regularly out performed all other offices in the region by a wide margin. The previous Office Director had been a shady character and in my short stay, I managed to rebuild and recover the office's prestige. I left because the company kept shortchanging me on my commissions.

January 2004 - March 2006

I started my own advertising/marketing agency with my wife. We struggled at first but eventually managed to acquire some quality clients, such as McGill University Student Services. Unfortunately, personal reasons forced me to close the agency and move to Spain.

Sales & Creative Director

Nadcom Inc.

December 1995 - November 2003

A small advertising/marketing agency where I learned the craft. I rose up the ranks and did just about everything possible in an advertising agency. My main client was the Cuban Ministry of Tourism where I was in charge of a budget ranging from 4-7 million dollars annually. I did the presentations, the media plans and buys, public relations, and sales to other Cuban entities and foreign companies wanting to do business in Cuba (I recruited 8 new clients for Nadcom). When I started working at Nadcom, 50 000 Canadians went to Cuba on vacation. When I left, over 500 000 Canadians vacationed annually in Cuba. My advertising campaigns won several prizes during that time. I also participated actively in the launch of Cuba's first restaurant chain (steakhouses) with the design of their logos, menus, signage, and advertising.

Communications & Public Relations Director

Park Extension Youth Organization (PEYO)

June 1995 - April 1996

PEYO was a community organization serving Montreal's poorest neighbourhood. I organized the launch of the first community kitchen in the area. Also, I founded and produced the "PEYO News Supplement" published in a local newspaper and the "PEYO Newsletter" sent to all sponsors. As spokesperson, I appeared on various local news programs in English and French.
I worked as an intern.
