Since 2006 until 2009 I have attended Cathedral High School in Wakefield. During my time there, in year 10 I have done my work experience at school where I have worked with EAL students (English as a second language), When I have left and moved into College, I came back and did some voluntary work. In 2012 I have applied for Learning Support Assistance job and this is what I currently do. My role is to support EAL students in lessons (translating the lesson and work to make sure they understand), meet with parents and pass on important information in their language, translating letters and worksheets etc. Although my first language is Polish, I have also experience in communicating with people from Czech Republic and Slovakia as our languages are very similar.

Hype is one of the clothing anf footwear shop in Wakefield. This job helped me to improve my customer service skills and also my language skills. One of the parts of my role which I have really enjoyed was meeting Polish, Slovak and Czech customers and use my translating skills to find out what they were looking for and I could help them. I think this habe made them feel more welcome in our shop and they always use to come back in the future.
KFC & Factory work
KFC- great customer servise skills, welcoming customers, being friendly and helpful, responsible, punctual and orgonised.
Factory work (Warehouse)- Helped other Polish people to understand what they had to do. A lot of times, my team leader used me as an example and asked me to translate some instructions to them. This type of work showed me how to become a little bit more independent.
High School- Letters to parents
I have also translated different letters which needed to be sent to parents. Usually these letters were to do with the attendance, school trips, parents evenings etc. Here are few examples.
High School- Translated worksheets
These are some of the worksheets which I have translated for kids to make sure they understand what the lesson is about and what work they had to do. I have done this for different subjects around our school. Everything has been kept in one folder, handed in to teachers and then passed onto students.
