I joined Highveld steel as a male nurse in 02 March 1979 where I worked for two years. I then went for fitter and turner apprenticeship training in Highveld Steel. All languages were studied through correspondence and N3 subjects at Mpondozankomo Technical College during the apprenticeship period. During my apprenticeship training I was exposed to conveyor belt maintenance, pollution precipitators, rotary kilns maintenance, electric arc furnaces, plate and coil production plants and water plant maintenances
After I qualified as a fitter and turner in 1985 I served for 9 years as an artisan at Highveld steel. During the years of trade I was promoted to leading hand, Fitter and a Health and Safety Representative under the MOSACT.
