Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE,'Mad cow disease')
BSE is a progressive and fatal disease of adult cattle characterized by a progressive degeneration of the central nervous system causing neurological signs in animals. Prion(atypical virus-like transmissible agent) is associated with the etiology of BSE.
BSE is a zoonotic disease which affect both animal and human.
I have attend the training in Scotland(UK) TSE Laboratory LGC Ltd in Edinburgh in May 2013,to evaluate the method used in UK as they are always detecting a positive case.
