Work History

CASUAL TEACHER&ART ASSISTANT and DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER

CLAYFEILD COLLEGE/SELECT LIFESTYLE

From March 2013

Currently I am working between two casual jobs. I am doing casual work at Clayfeild college and doing disability support work with Lifstyle Select. The disability support work requires me to teach life skills such as cooking, shopping, cleaning, communication and social skills in group situations. I have also do respite care working as a mentor to a young 12 year old girl and one on one support for a young lady with cerebral palsy.

TEMPORARY FULL-TIME TEACHER

COBAR HIGH

July 2011 - July 2012

I taught a one-year block as the primary Visual Arts teacher of Cobar High School. I was responsible for coordinating and organising the art department which gave me experience that would be difficult to gain elsewhere as a new scheme teacher e.g. ordering and budgeting, assessment and reporting, planning and programming and teaching all years including the year 12 HSC. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience, especially the opportunity to teach my own students and guide them through their learning to achieve to their full potential.
I would be happy to provide my final Accreditation Report, which was based on this teaching experience.

CASUAL TEACHING/ART ASSISTANT

ST JOHNS COLLEGE WOODLAWN

I taught a block of casual work in Visual Arts at Woodlawn College, Lismore, largely working with year 9. I worked close to the students with life skills and had particular joy working with a student suffering cerebral palsy. I achieved a good insight into the array of different learners and gained experience in adapting assessment criteria to suite the multiple needs of students with life skills.
I also worked for Woodlawn as a temporary art assistant and was given the responsibility to create accessible systems for teaching programs, exams, lesson plans etc. I worked to develop methods and improve habits in the ceramics room to increase OH&S standards.

CASUAL TEACHER

BYRON BAY HIGH, KADINA HIGH, CASINO HIGH, MULLUMBIMBY HIGH

February 2010 - June 2011

As a new graduate I worked as a regular casual teacher in most subject areas, including Visual Arts, across years 7 to 11. As a casual teacher I developed the ability to take on responsibilities beyond my training, adapting to unfamiliar subject areas at short notice. At Byron Bay I was given the responsibility to prepare year 10 for their School Certificate in History and English and was trusted to familiarise myself with the syllabus and subject content and prepare the students for their final exams.
