My love for photography developed at school during my Advance Higher.
Then against the head of departments wishes I pursued further into photography where I used photography as my main use of media, unlike the main stream media, paint which had commonly been used for expressive. Therefore with the constant reminder from my teacher that I was going to fail because I went against him, I managed to show that I was capable and independent where I could prove to my teachers and fellow workers, that I can do it, and in my own time and money and managed to push through the difficulty of not having a teacher and support, and managed to pull a 'B' out of Advance Higher Art, where I feel my portfolio is exceptionally strong, and the only flaw in my folio for Advance higher Art was my essay and writing ability, however with the lack of guidance I am proud of what I have been able to achieve and this has led to a successful blog and a sense of achievement. Where I inspired one of my Art teachers to promote photography classes now in the school. However I have now left school and my love for photography can now be spent in my own time with my own style. I wished to join the RAF and become a photographer however due to surgery following a sporting accident I have been left to postpone this and fall to plan B and apply for a civilian apprenticeship. However I will apply the same hard working and quick learning skills that I would in any other circumstances and which to develop them and my skill as a photographer.
From June 2013
Since leaving school, I joined the ‘Salvation Army’ as a volunteer where I have been working in the retail shop for over 6months this has allowed me to further develop my communication, time keeping and stock management skills. As I have been there for 6months, I have shown to be trustworthy and able to look after the shop in absence of the manager.
During this time I have developed key skills such as:
- Stock count and Stock.
- Dealing with the general public.
- Health and safety
- Teaching and Training
- Working practices
- Supporting senior members of staff.
