CAPS aligned in-service training of Foundation and Intermediate Phase teachers from the Western Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI), Johannesburg Central District and Central Free State District in the Communicative
Approach to Shared and Guided Reading;
• Lectures on the Communicative Approach to Literacy teaching to undergraduate Foundation and Intermediate
Phase students at Stellenbosch University and Cape Peninsula University of Technology;
• Development of course content for two hour, professional development workshops on the Communicative
Approach to Literacy teaching;
• Demonstration lessons and training of Foundation and Intermediate Phase teachers in the Communicative
Approach to Literacy teaching at Clifton Preparatory School, Durban.

Gl eDuCation
• Management of the SA assessment (digital and paper-based) sales territory through the identification of key
customers, planning and operationalising a national travel schedule as well as identifying and participating in key
exhibitions and events;
• On-going research of legislation and guidelines governing assessment and inclusion in government and
Independent schools;
• Driving GL sales into the primary and secondary school market as well as independent remedial centres and trade distributors;
• Building up product knowledge across the GL assessment range by being proficient at both on-line and paper
based systems as well as conducting product training workshops at schools and with Juta staff;
• Networking at district, provincial and national level to with key government officials involved in inclusion and school
assessment and the investigation of assessment projects currently underway.

• Research and write position papers on critical issues.

• Conceptualisation, strategic management as well as day-to-day oversight of the activities of the National Integrated
ECD Project, Ilifa Labantwana (initially R60m over 4 years);
• Oversee (final proof reading and editing) of meeting documentation;
• Attend and participate in the 2-day, quarterly Grants sub-committee grants meetings and take minutes;
• Undertake extensive field visits to assess, monitor and evaluate programmes;
• Research and write position papers on critical issues e.g. ECD and the Aged;
• Overall responsibility for distribution of approximately R80m per annum.

• Receive, assess, monitor and evaluate all Education proposals - ECD to Higher Education;
• Undertake an extensive visit programme to proposed and existing beneficiaries
(approximately 200 beneficiaries per annum).
