Over the past decade, pharmaceutical firms have begun to recognize that negative environmental impacts from their facilities can risk the health of their employees, diminish the quality of life in communities nearby and undermine their primary purpose of creating wealth. Thus, the need to manage these environmental impacts using effective methods such as Environmental Management Plan (EMP). Pharmaceutical industries are adopting Environmental Management Systems (EMSs) that meet internationally accepted standards such as the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO 14000 series guidelines and proactively manage environmental aspects of their products and operations in order to eliminate waste and prevent pollution and environmental degradation. This EMP has been developed within the framework of the international standard for environmental management systems AS/NZS ISO 14001:2004 ‘Environmental Management Systems’. Various approaches exist for identifying environmental aspects and determining significance. For the purpose of this project, the process flow method was used. Once the environmental impacts were identified, each was evaluated to establish the magnitude of the impact using the Environmental risk assessment matrix. This evaluation became the basis for determining significant environmental impacts. The research revealed that
