My Background

Mr Lusapho Thomas is an independent consultant proficient in the areas of SMME Development and Community Projects, which role he has delivered successfully for the last 8 years. The company he represents is Thomas Projects a partner company of Mbali Kantu Consulting in which he serves as a director. The latter position he has held for the last 3 years, growing the SMME from an annual turnover of R120,000 to just over R1 million through his marketing and sales expertise.

Lusapho’s humble beginnings were that of a property manager in one of KZN’s property houses, Hunters Estate Agents. At the tender age of 20, Lusapho was pursuing a career as a Medical Broker when he was spotted as potential by one of the directors of Assure Health and was offered a Regional Manager role to prepare him for executive management. While there, Lusapho was responsible for over 50 brokers and sales reps in the greater Kokstad Region. His sales budget target was over R5 million. This target was easily achieved.

He progressed up to N3 level in Business Studies when his focus shifted to Sales. Lusapho then joined the BEE stream and created jobs for the team of 4 that supported his consultancy. In 2008, his company was awarded a R500,000 contract by IDT (Independent Development Trust) to formulate and facilitate community development in Swaziland, the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

As a young business consultant, Lusapho started widening his net and formed business partnerships with a Training and Development Consultancy, Mbali Kantu, in which he currently holds shares as an independent director. In 2009, he was also involved in training facilitation for TTMA (Transversal Training Management via the University of Fort Hare) specialising in Co-operatives development and Project Management, which project lasted for 3 years.

While there, another Co-operative Development opportunity funded by ASGISA and the Department of Social Development opened up in the Eastern Cape and Lusapho was approached to join the Mentorship team there for the delivery of the Poverty Alleviation Strategy.

He is a member of various professional bodies such as the Durban Chamber and an International Business Opportunity Network 21, and is currently mandated to develop SMMEs through IDT (Independent Development Trust). Lusapho is a motivational speaker and a born again Christian.
