Description of Duties:
• Planning Optic Fibre and copper network capture the information on relevant systems and determine network requirements and capacity.
• Conduct site survey/visit and liaise with customers for RFO's

• Preparing High level Planning for the MCO i.e. Vodacom, MTN, Cell C
• Compiling of project executable file
• Attending Technical site survey meetings
• Compile detailed cost estimate of project on SAP(PNR)
• Interacting with all project role players
• Handling of internal and external enquiries related to Telkom's network.
• Updating all the records related to projects
• Responsible for using CBS database to work through Business and Residential waiters.
• Plotting of waiters in farms and townships using information on the topographical maps.
• Coordinating with Private Consultants, Architects and Consulting Engineers concerning new developments and Buildings.
• Investigating and Preparing of Way leaves for the Municipality, Eskom or Private Customers.
• In this department I have also learned to be a good decision maker as we plan different types of project some which can start making a profit for the company in the first 5 yrs and they are also bigger projects which repay themselves with in the first year of completion.
• It is in these department where I also received an award for service excellence which I also excelled and met targets within my planning duties
• I am also planning microwave projects for Telkom Mobile in areas where installing micro fiber is not business viable
• My work also entails attending kick-off meetings where RFO Specifications are discussed and where I also need to explain the method of transmission to be used in that site where service is needed.

From January 2006 I got a position to do Data validation which entailed the fixing of Telkom records through tapping and capturing the correct information.

I also worked with Telkom contractors who were doing civil work for us that is in doing trenching work, building our new manholes and also setting up of mini exchanges in our rural areas where there is currently no infrastructure.

In this department I also supervised the hauling and floating of optic fiber cables from one exchange to the other. My job required me to be on site at all times and make sure that contractors work and adhere to company specifications.

I started working on April 1998 as a cable jointer which meant localizing and fixing of underground copper cable faults to setting up of SDC'S that is street distribution cabinets
And DP'S which are distribution points and also the whole communication network from the telephone exchange to the client.
Also cable jointing meant that we also terminate and join new cables in manholes and in DP'S and SDC'S.
