Design and construction of 5.8 km total elevated viaducts, 0.4 km at grade line and 3 nos. of metro stations (2 nos. elevated, 1 no. at grade), namely QEZ (Qatar Economic Zone), Barwa and Al Wakra Stations including an underpass structure of approximately 1 km in length and grading of the depot area of 1 million m2.

Project: EPIC of Civil and MEPI Works for Nakilat Project, Phase 2A, Port of Ras Laffan, Qatar
Client: Qatar Petroleum/Nakilat; Consultant: Qatar Petroleum/Nakilat; Project value: US$80 million

Piled (250 nos. of vertical and raked piles) pier structure (400m length, 22m wide) for mooring of Q-Max size floating dock on west side and 400,000dwt ships on east side, including various other civil (access ramps, services for jib cranes, steel frames), marine (floating pontoon and breakwater, pipe bollards, fenders) mechanical (capstans, access towers, hydraulic gangways, service piping) and electrical services (substation, cathodic protection, PMS).

• Coordination with civil & structural, electrical and mechanical design subcontractors
• Control of subcontractors (dynamic and static testing of piles, fabrication of steel frames)
• Control of procurement

Project: EPIC of New Desalination Plant and Potable Water Storage Tanks, Halul Island, Qatar
Client: Qatar Petroleum; Consultant: Qatar Petroleum; Project value: US$ 55 million

New desalination plant (reverse osmosis technology) with total potable water production capacity of 2400 m3/day, two new potable water storage steel tanks of 2500 m3 capacity each, intake and outfall pipelines, piping for raw and potable water distribution and necessary pumping facilities.

• Checking and optimisation of civil and structural design calculations / construction drawings for three reinforced concrete buildings (one seawater pump house and two transfer pump stations), one pre-engineered steel building housing the reverse osmosis desalination plant, foundations of steel tanks and interconnecting piping, numerous other steel structures and foundations.
• Coordination with the marine designer of intake and outfall pipelines
• Coordination with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation departments
• Client liaison for approval of design and drawings
• At design stage completion (August 2012), transferred to offshore site as Lead Site Civil Engineer for coordination of remaining civil activities: reinforced concrete frame, masonry and aluminium cladding works, fabrication and erection of steel works
• At civil construction completion (February 2013), Commissioning Engineer for preparation of commissioning documents for Client approval and follow-up of site commissioning for 35 pumps

Client: Khafji Joint Operations; Consultant: Penspen; Project value: US$ 70 million

Scope of the project, engineering of which was performed at Carlo Gavazzi Impianti HQ in Magenta, Milan, and construction in the industrial area of Al-Khafji between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, was to lower the level of impurities present in the waste stream of water used in industrial oil desalinators and recycle it in the process.

• Employed by the general contractor of the Consortium between SETE (mechanical and civil engineering), Foster Wheeler Italiana (process engineering) and Carlo Gavazzi Impianti (electrical, instrumentation and control engineering)
• Ensured Client QA/QC requirements were implemented in all Consortium-issued design documents
• Liaised with the Client on technical and organisational matters
• Resolved housing, accommodation, and legal immigration issues for non-European engineers
• Responsible for cash flow
