➢ Heading and overseeing the day to day running of the following departments - Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and ERD (Engineering Related Designs )
➢ Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
➢ Preparation, teaching, examining, administrative and other duties
➢ Prepare course materials such as syllabi, home work and assignments.
➢ Participating meaningfully in the College's system of evaluating lectures as well as the lecturers (tutors)
➢ Initiate, facilitate and moderate classroom discussions.
➢ Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.

The laboratory falls under the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare and is responsible for all the tests required at government health institutions, and is accepted as reliable.
The laboratory is also responsible for administering the Food and Food Standards Act and is a National Regulatory Food and Water Testing Lab whose operations are benchmarked to ISO 17025 standards for testing laboratories.
Duties and Responsibilities
➢ Preparation of complicated samples for analysis including grinding, weighing, chemical treatment, heating filtration, evaporation, distillation, digestion (wet and microwave)
➢ Analysis of complicated samples by means of certain processes and methods including GC, HPLC, atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS/AES)
➢ Record sample information, complete and review analyses, statistical analysis, reviewing reports, issuing reports
➢ Statistical evaluation and interpretation of data as well as interpretation of analytical data and calculation of results by means of mathematical formulae
➢ Preparation of standard solutions
➢ Sampling of food products for analysis
➢ Appling scientific and engineering principles in research, development, production technology, quality control, packaging, processing, and utilization of foods
➢ Conducts basic research, and new product research and development of foods
➢ Developing new and improved methods and systems for food processing, production, quality control, packaging, and distribution
➢ Studies methods to improve quality of foods, such as flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, convenience, or physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of foods
➢ Developing food standards, safety and sanitary regulations, and waste management and water supply specifications
➢ Testing new products in test kitchen and develops specific processing methods in laboratory pilot plant, and confers with process engineers, flavor experts, and packaging and marketing specialists to resolve problems.

Chapter 15

➢ Chemical analysis of food products for nutritional and safety purposes as well as testing for conformance to Zimbabwe food laws and regulations according to the provisions of the Food and Food Standards Act (Chapter 15: 04)
➢ Microbiological analysis of food products as well as water including bacterial, yeasts, and coliforms analysis for conformance to Zimbabwe food laws and regulations from media preparation up to enumeration and identification of the microorganisms according to the provisions of the Food and Food Standards Act (Chapter 15: 04)
➢ Food products analysed includes; alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, milk and milk products, cereal based products, fruits and vegetables based products, fat and oils, bottled water, canned or tinned foods meant for importation into Zimbabwe for sale and for donation
➢ Helping food manufacturers with the implementation of HACCP, GMPs in their food plants and post-harvest handling techniques of various food products prior to processing
➢ Sterilization by autoclave of apparatus and sampling bottles as well as issuing them to clients for water sampling
➢ Monitor and certify quality of food products and packaging material for conformance to Zimbabwe food packaging and labeling laws and regulations
➢ Calibration of laboratory instruments inorder to optimizes resources, assures consistency
➢ Maintaining laboratory equipment in good working order and ensuring safety in the laboratory
