Makhubela - Teacher - Pretoria, GP, South Africa

Lolosa Robinson Makhubela

Pretoria, GP, South Africa

I started teaching in 1983 as a senior English and History teacher. I am very passionate about both these subjects as is borne out by the results my pupils attained, As, Bs for the first time in the history of the schools I taught at. I obtained my BA degree from Unisa majoring in Education, History and an intensive 3year training in the art of teaching English. My stint at Iowa State University (USA) further enhanced my expertise in the subject( TESOL).
My experience as a Head of Department of English and Afrikaans armed me with invaluable insight into the dynamics of teaching English to speakers of other languages. I popularised poetry by using the guitar as teaching aid to arouse interest in this literary genre. It worked wonders as some of my former pupils have taken art/music/poetry as their careers.
I know that in the teaching of my subjects I'm second to none.
