Customer care: Dealt with customer enquires, telephone calls, ordering or phoning other Asda Superstores for merchandise which are out of stock in the store and arranging for the customers to pick up.
Shelf Replenishment: Replenishing shelves with merchandise from stock Room and stock rotation. Using Plano graph to arrange shelves.
Till Duties: Cash Handling duties at tills to serve customers and help them with any other requirements e.g. bag packing.
Stock Room: Replenishment of stock room when new merchandise is delivered to the store and house keeping duties when required.

Replenishing stock: When each book is returned it needs to be relocated to its space on the shelf within the library. Each book usually got returned Alphabetically but some books had specialised areas.
Key Holding Duties: I had to open and close the library and set and reset the alarm.
Cash Handling: I also had to man a till e.g. fines for late books, stamps and sometimes sell books.
Customer Service: Answering public enquires over the telephone and face to face.
Relief: I was a relief library assistant and although I was based at one library I could be moved to any library within East Ayrshire with little notice.

Looked after gallery space: Opened and closed the Gallery Space. Made sure the lights an AV Equipment was on within the Exhibition. Look after the keys for the museum. Made sure people behaved within the space and respected the rest of the visitors.
Counted visitor figures: Counted visitor figures using a hand held totalling machine and recorded the figures in a book and on an excel document. I had to tally up the figures every day to see how many visitors entered each individual exhibition.
Answered enquiries: Via telephone and face to face.
Craft shop duties: I had to man the craft shop. Cash handling, key holding duties.

East Ayrshire Council, Dean Castle Country Park
September 2002 - September 2003
Guided Tours: Lead tours of around 20 visitors, including school and special parties around the castle using interpretation methods to teach visitors about the history of the castle and the historical objects.
Live interpretation taught me a lot about target audiences and the learning outcomes the museum wanted for their visitors. Tour guiding allowed me to learn different museum procedures and I believe I have a good understanding of how visitors learn and what captures their imaginations.
Booking: I had to take bookings for the next tours when I was not guiding, to make sure we had the correct number of visitors and to see if any visitors needed special requirements.
Key Holding: I had to open and close the castle during and after the tours to make sure the collection was secure.
Other Duties: Working in the museum shop and working at the animal corner selling animal feed.
