Retired from last position as Special Advisor and Program Coordinator of the Global Health Research Initiative (GHRI) in June 2009.
Managed the GHRI partnership of the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, the Canadian International Development Agency, Health Canada, the Canadian International Development Research Agency and the Public Health Agency of Canada to strengthen and build capacity for the global health research in Canada and low and middle income countries.
Incorporated knowledge exchange and capacity development concepts more effectively into an expanding major suite of solid and innovative granting and programming modalities and to link across the global health research community.
Over 3 decades of experience in the health and research domains in a variety of evaluation and research funding functions at Health Canada, including the National Health Research and Development Program (NHRDP) and the national Centres of Excellence for Women’s Health, and at the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation (a national organization dedicated to improving the relevance and use of health services research for decision-makers in the health system (1998 – 2007).
Developed and managed numerous innovative research granting, training, and knowledge exchange programs – linking research excellence and innovation, research use in health policy and service delivery, training and mentoring and inter-institutional collaboration across Canada and on a global level.
