I completed a Business and Life Coaching Course through University of Johannesburg in 2010. Coaching is a process aimed at achieving specific outcomes that may lead to improved personal and/or professional performance by creating an agreed upon action plan to achieve these outcomes. The goal of Coaching is to create awareness and responsibility.

Management Training

Thus far I have co-facilitated management training workshops which included topics like Communication for Managers and Stress Management. I am also responsible to ensure that new staff members are oriented and inducted, whether it be in a one-on-one format or part of an Induction Day.

Non-management Training

Over the years I facilitated training workshops for staff at non-management level, which includes topics like Customer Service, Communication, Basic Life Skills, HIV/AIDS, Health and Hygiene. In addition to this I also ensure that the training material is kept up to date and relevant. If a new training need is identified, I also draw up the training material from scratch.

Policy Writing

I have written new policies for my employer, for instance Internal Communication Policy, Social Responsibility Policy, Training and Development Policy and Work Hours Policy in order to promote a good working environment, to be in line with labour law, as well as to promote the company as a Top Employer.

Leave Policy

I have updated and made recommendations on my employer's Leave Policy to be more in line with the BCEA (Basic Conditions of Employment Act), as well as to promote the company as a Top Employer.

Individual Coaching

I have coached several individuals on a one-on-one basis. Individual Coaching is more personal and focuses on 'goals' the individual would like to reach, be it personal or professional 'goals'.

Team Coaching

I have facilitated regular Team Coaching sessions at both management and non-management level. Typical sessions would focus on the team's mission critical measurable outcomes, 'red flags', aligning goals to 'red flags' and measurable outcomes, etc.

Targeted Selection

One of the projects I have been responsible for, is to put in place Targeted Selection Interview Schedules for all key roles within the company. Targeted Selection is based on the premise that past behaviour can predict future performance. In order to select the right person for the right position, this is one of the tools we use in recruiting new staff.

One of the major projects I worked on recently with my team was to be recognised as one of the Top Employers in South Africa. The CRF Institute measures companies in 15 countries worldwide on key areas of HR Best Practice. I am proud to say that we qualified as one of the Best Employers in South Africa for 2012/13.
