For 21 hours a day, 6 days a week my role involved caring for, teaching and entertaining people aged 8-80, with a wide range of disabilities. I learned to care for personal, physical and emotional needs of people with moderate to severe disability. I developed key skills such as patience, perseverance, teamwork and cooperation.

I took a young girl from a disadvantaged background on weekly outings around London, as well as to her swimming lessons. I took time to work on her personal development as she was missing parental guidance. Her school reported vast improvements in her self-confidence, engagement in class and schoolwork. I learned to be more compassionate and sensitive, while also being authoritative and supportive.
