Acted on behalf and in the same capacity as the KCPL Safety Manager on day shift. Lead and administered comprehensive safety and health improvement processes to ensure a safe and productive work site in order to minimize risks. Worked in conjunction with Contracted Site Project Managers and General Foreman in maintaining compliance to Company, State and Federal safety rules and regulations. Responsible for conducting New Hire Safety Orientations highlighting site-specific policies and procedures regarding Substance Abuse, Emergency Action, Anhydrous Ammonia and Fall Protection. also providing additional Employee Safety Training as needed. Assisted in the implementation of Behavior Based Safety Assessments to review and evaluate, noting problem areas and recommending and creating improvements and solutions to facilitate change and show effectiveness of training. Conducted weekly Safety Audits in multiple locations with a computerized score card. These audits not only identified potentially unsafe behaviors but recognized positive safe behaviors, and provided alternative solutions for corrective measures. Collaborated with the night shift craft First Response Team to assess effectiveness of programs and address and resolve issues while providing them with additional First Aid/CPR Training as needed. Developed a monthly Safety Minute Bulletin covering various safety related topics for distribution throughout the site. Provided first point of contact for First Aid Treatment, assisting EMT First Aid Team as needed. Conducted Incident investigations and tap root analysis. Shared responsibility of overseeing Security staff with the Night Shift Construction Manager, as well as the entire Night Shift work force.
