Manage the administrative activities in the office of the Director-General which includes the following:
• Develop, implement and maintain systems, registers and databases to monitor and manage the flow of documents to, from and within the office of the Director-General.
• Managing the return date list, making follow-ups on all outstanding matters e.g. outstanding speeches, Parliamentary questions for written and oral reply and briefing notes for the Minister, Deputy Minister and the Director-General.
• Quality assurance, edit and study all incoming submissions to be submitted to the COO and the DG for approval.
• Develop, implement and maintain an efficient filling system for the office of the Director-General. Manage the registry in the office of the Director-General and ensure that documents are classified in accordance with the MISS prescripts and are handled in accordance with their classification.
• Typing of memoranda and submitting referrals to relevant line managers.
• Ensuring smooth distribution of documents e.g. submissions to and from various programme managers and other stakeholders.
• Draft acknowledgement letters for various correspondences channelled through the Office of the Director-General.
• Monitoring the return dates list and alerting all programme managers of deadlines and submissions to be submitted for the Director-General’s attention, in order for commitments with other stakeholders to be met.
• Ensure proper asset management for the Office of the Director-General and ordering of stationery, office appliances, computers, laptops, cellular phones etc. and keeping the asset register up to date.
• Liaise with line functions with regards to the workflow and status update on submissions relevant to their programme.
• Facilitate the procurement in the Office of the Director-General, liaison with the Supply Chain Management unit as well as suppliers and service providers to ensure delivery and payment for the services rendered.

• Safe guarding of the naval base in Simons Town, the National Key Points such as Simon's Town Naval Military Vehicle Depot, Admiral House, the SA warship such as SAS Drakenburg and harbour patrol. Escorting and reception of visitors, monitoring of military vehicles, operating crowd control during protest and marches. Performing road blocks and also doing physical and personnel protection.

I manage a Grant In Aid project of an allocated budget of R1million which the Department fund conferences which promote science and technology awareness, promote the participation of previously disadvantaged communities in science and technology.
