Projects

Employment Equity Auditing, planning and implementation

To improve the company's BBBEE score, renewed focus was needed on Employment Equity. Due to many previous efforts to move forward with EE, it was decided to enlist the assistance of an independent consultant. The project evolved into almost a year long project which entailed obtaining the buy in from exec, HR audits, categorizing job families according to minimum requirements, committee selections and training, including senior managers in findings and suggested planning, developing policies and procedures, continues feedback to exec for approval of initiatives, 5 year numerical and non-numerical goal settings. Continues feedback sessions to the workforce, further communication and training initiatives are ongoing to maintain support and momentum of Transformation.

Mass Recruitment

Apprenticeship and operator trainee intakes are done bi-annually according to Merseta requirements for registration of trainees. This is done on approximately 800 to 1000 candidates, hence the project approach. Screening process consists of various types, and level of evaluations, screening interviews, final interviews, pre-employment medical screening with physical strength screening. Candidates have the opportunity to visit the plant area to assess whether they would be interested in training manufacturing environment.
