Bezuidenhout - Corporate Librarian - Australia

Leana Bezuidenhout

I was entirely responsible for the establishment of the Datavia library (Transnet's IT library) from determining its strategic direction; the establishment and expansion of its collection; and controlling its budget. I automated the library stock and users were then able to access the library through the OPAC.

In 2007 I was employed by Murray & Roberts Limited, South Africa's biggest construction and engineering firm, to digitise 110 years of history to preserve it for future generations. All its documented history was stored in cupboards and boxes spread across its diverse operations for many years. I scanned thousands of documents over a period of 5 years, with amazing results. All the history, news, references and correspondence are now available at the touch of a keyboard.
