Manage the complete operation of a 36 work force, Lettuce and Herb Farm, and reporting to the Operations Manager. Supervise production staff, harvesting, quality control, and general maintenance of vehicles and farm implements, spraying of crops.

Duties & achievements;
• Planning and implementing of daily harvests.
• Quality control of product and daily communication with packhouse.
• Management of staff for greatest efficiency of production.
• General administrative matters and management of the in-house stock management system.
• Daily maintenance of farm vehicles, tractors and farm implements and accurate record keeping of services.
• Safe spraying of crops and accurate record keeping.

Production Supervisor

Irvin and Johnson, Abalone Culture Division, Danger Point, Gansbaai

Stock control of all feeds on the farm, as well as the production of seaweeds, and management of third party contractors for the harvesting of ''wild'' kelp beds.

Duties & achievements;

• Growing of Ulva.lactuca and Gracilaria as feed for abalone.
Researching production of these seaweeds with the use of new technologies to achieve significant results.
Maintaining self cleaning water quality recirculation system.
• Stock control of artificial feeds.
Daily running of artificial feed management store to a HACCP standard.
• Management of third party contractors for Kelp harvesting.
Managing third party contractors, including requisitions for payment and government levies.
Inspecting and managing of the farms aquatic resources, including kelp beds.
Managing and maintaining accurate records of harvested kelp.

Working closely with the O.I.C. thus gaining insight into the inner workings and management of the Nature reserve.

Duties & achievements;

• Technical work - maintenance of equipment, pumps and vehicles, carpentry, plumbing, and trail maintenance.
• Research - bird counts, fish tagging, and mussel survey.
• Management - Assist with Work for Water Project, supervision of staff, administration and ordering of supplies.
• Outreach - General tourism information, school group activities, and community outreach.
• Other - Problem animal control, Game capture.
