I owned and managed a catering business and a guesthouse in Namibia and South Africa. I oversee the events division and organise the corporate events of the University of Pretoria from within the Department of University Relations. Events I have co-ordinated and supported are, the Vice-Chancellor's Inauguration, Re-opening of the Aula, Open Day, Laureate Ball, International Students Day, UP Spring Day, Academic Achievers Awards, Welcome Day, UP Mandela Day, Argentina's State Policy on Human Rights: Building a bridge between future and past in collaboration with the Argentinian Embassy and the Foundation for Human rights, Round Table of Former African Presidents, a programme of the African Presidential Centre at Boston University etc. Other duties include compilation and implementation of events supporting documents e.g. annual business plans, survey links, event support request forms, UP Comprehensive guide to events, reporting template on events and an updated schedule on events. All the documentation are available on a shared drive within the Department of University Relations and will shortly be incorporated onto the UP Intranet. I have experience in HR handling the personnel admin, managing apprentices, facilitated OD interventions eg Valuing Diversity and Change Management, system training and was a recruitment officer. I also have office management experience at executive level. I worked in financial, education, medical, telecommunications, and government organisations

I was the Personal Assistant to the Senior Executive Manager: Asset & Liabilities Management. My duties included managing the engagements of the Senior Executive Manager, rendering administrative support which included drafting of correspondence, minutes secretary to the Management meetings, Preparation of minutes, draft agenda and travel and accommodation arrangements. Additional duties included requesting quotations, requesting order numbers which involved managing the expenditure control, shifting of funds and capturing order requests on Logis. These required strict control and adherence to applicable prescripts, policies and procedures. I also prepared and updated the monthly budget projections. I prepared the annual budget. There were good interpersonal relations within our Chief Directorate, sub-directorates, colleagues and service staff. I also exercised strict control measures for incoming and outgoing correspondence and arranged venue, catering and other logistical arrangements for meetings and functions.

I successfully operated a catering business for 2 years.
