I am a HL7 certified clinician with 25+ years of expertise in Healthcare and Healthcare Informatics - Strategy, Implementation and Op Management (EHRs, EMRs, PHRs, CPOE, EHealth, HL7, DICOM ).
As an "expert" and 'single-point-of-contact' for the Healthcare IT 'product', I have made it easier for the clinicians to address requirements, quickly and efficiently, sans red-tape. Utilising best practices and innovative IT tools I've promoted high quality, cost effective patient care through proactive participation by clinicians.
My job profile requires me to meet with senior officials in the government and private industry to take ahead sweeping changes in HCIT . Towards this end I have used my excellent communications skills to lobby, demonstrate, sell to and train a wide range of technical and non-technical people at all levels of seniority during meetings, TCons, seminars, conferences and training camps. The last many years have been spent in various complex projects in Healthcare IT (HCIT) and Telemedicine during my tenures as Vice President with the Apollo Hospitals Group (The third largest hospital group in the world), Axsys Healthtech (A Scottish EMR company) and Bilcare Ltd.
My experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams (ranging from 15 to 120 resources) with military like schedules and discipline is another reason for my proven track record of delivering projects to time, quality and within budget.
As a consultant, my bread and butter has come from managing complex relationships and negotiating successful outcomes with key stakeholders by demonstrating my ability to deliver within a complex, constantly-changing environment. My success shows in the number of agreements that I have with HC IT and IT companies in the UK, Singapore and India. Working across time zones (US/UK/India/Singapore/Australia) in multiple projects with tight timelines has given me rich experience in managing multiple, complex contracts with and without interdependencies.

I was part of the core team that was entrusted with the Project of starting and ramping up a new business line, a ‘Healthcare Product’ in the healthcare IT vertical - beginning right from the vision statement and the strategic goals to the delivery of a world class product with a USP that does not exist any where in the world today.
I was responsible for selecting, developing, utilizing and retaining high quality talent to effectively operationalize the functional areas of ideation, content, design of enterprise wide software applications, compliance, interoperability with other apps, call centers and mobility platforms, risk mitigation strategies, training, deployment and operational management. My skill-sets of strong interpersonal communications, multi-cultural sensibilities and focused analytics helped me in my dealings and negotiations with multiple companies, partners and vendors, in India, Australia and the US.
Vice President - Healthcare Products
January 2007 - January 2008
I was part of the core team that was entrusted with starting and ramping up a new ‘Healthcare IT Product’ - beginning right from the vision statement and the strategic goals to the delivery of a world class product with a USP that did not exist any where in the world.
I was given total ownership for healthcare and healthcare IT components of the Project. Towards this goal I carried out multiple activities like resource planning, contracting, putting legal frameworks in place, signing appropriate contracts, agreements and MOUs with vendors, contractors and partners. I then put together a carefully chosen (and compatible) team of IT programmers, clinicians, administrators, dieticians. The rest was easy. I steered and supported the assessment of EMRs (incl top EMRs from companies like Epic, Eclipsys, Cerner, EClinical Works, HP, IBAHealth(Lorenzo, Monet),etc), Disease Management Apps and Healthcare portals for our company. I assessed EMRs to select the appropriate one that would efficiently manage Clinical data and defined and wrote the processes, data maps and requirements for data security and integrity. In addition I wrote Risk strategies . The complex challenge of multiple third party HCIT components interoperating and working transparently as one was one that I architected successfully. I helped steer documentation processes, quality assurance activities, and guidelines for development of interoperable widgets with 3rd party Apps while ensuring compliance to regulations and standards. I also headed the dept that ensured availability of updated and validated Clinical Content our web portal. This was accomplished by selecting KOLs (Key opinion Leaders) in Cardiology, Gen Medicine, Endocrinology and Diabetology and put together a medical board that would write, publish and upgrade current clinical and treatment protocols to suit the local populance.
Vice President - Software Services
January 2007 - August 2007
AxSys Health Tech is a UK based Health IT EMR company. Its unique multidisciplinary care record has been adopted by the NHS Scotland as the National Generic Clinical System (based on .Net and other Microsoft technology). I headed the software division which had a strength of 120. During my tenure there I put together best practices and processes to ensure result oriented output. Happy with my initiatives, the top management added moreresponsibilities (in the form of a challenge). I was asked to recover a Prestigious Hospital HIS-EMR implementation that has started some 18 months back and had seriously gone wrong to the extent that the management was proposing returning their advance payments. I stepped in, met with the top management of that hospital, studied the issues, delicately negotiated, put together a rescue plan and in just about 3 months succeeded in a making the project operational. Needless to say my company received a lot of positive publicity from that success story.
