I have completed a Certificate III as an Education Support Officer (Teacher Aide) through the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE. I was given the opportunity to chose electives based on my study preferences. I opted for teaching students with a disability, working with students with English as a second language, as well as undertaking the mandatory subjects such as assisting with written and oral communication, the development of maths, distinguishing a safe, student-friendly environment without discrimination, work place health and safety, etc.

Whilst successful in achieving paid employment at Grantham State School as a Teacher Aide, I wanted to broaden my horizons and opted to volunteer my time in the private sector of the Catholic education system. I continued to gain competencies in my Cert III in Education Support, working mostly with English as a Second Language students.

To gain competency in Southern Queensland's Institute of TAFE's Certificate III in Education Support Work. Working with the Prep/Year One combined class of 25 students with Elizabeth "Libby" Brain, every Tuesday in Terms Three and Four. I was then offered a paid role in Terms One and Two every Thursday and Friday with the Year Two/Three combined class. I left in June 2013 to have a baby and completed my Certificate with OLGC Catholic Primary School.
