In my role as an Early Childhood Facilitator I work alongside Family caseworkers form Burnside and FAC'S, with a particular focus on the needs of the children within the family.

I assess the children's needs and work with parents and caseworkers to formulate goals to address any needs and delays that the children may have. I work with families to facilitate accessing their children to quality Early Childhood Education and resource them on all aspects of childcare. I also provide training to childcare staff and parents around the needs of the children, including behaviour management skills.

I establish and maintain positive working relationships between the EIP team, childcare centres, family day care schemes and families, as well as any medical professionals that need to be involved to meet the child's needs. I work on a consultative basis with caseworkers around early childhood issues and participate in case reviews.

I also facilitate Parent education groups each term.

Children's Worker

Airds /Bradbury Family Centre

March 2000 - December 2006

In this position, I worked with children from 0-16 and their parents and families. I taught and developed Skills for Life groups for children in local preschools, primary and high schools. These groups focussed around social skills, behaviour management, anger management and developing self esteem. The programs enabled the children and young people to build on their skills, improve their self esteem and confidence, to feel valued and frequently experience success. It was an early intervention program that enabled the children and young people to build their resilience in order for them to bounce back from the effects of a variety of high risk situations and be able to face future life challenges.

My position also involved individual work and counselling with children and young people, running parenting groups, women's groups, working with Aboriginal women and their children, and doing family work with children and their families. I was also the First Aid officer.
