WorleyParsonsRSA is the foremost mining industry EPCM service provider in Southern Africa specialising in deep level shaft design and execution projects. The business was formed following the acquisition of TWP by WorleyParsons.
ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - Anglo Platinum Mogalakwena North Concentrator (MNC), South Africa
The Mogalakwena North Concentrator (MNC) services three open pit platinum mines in the Mogalakwena district, with the future capability to process upwards of 750 ktpm.

• Challenged with the technical and project support for the rerouting, upgrading and construction of an 11kV
overhead line, and updating of the ETAP model.

• Completed and updated all costing schedules, whilst working within a restricted budget of AUD1m.

• Served as subject matter expert on best utilisation of new and existing technology, refining plans as needed to improve efficiency, and on investigating, identifying, and analysing design faults.

• Collaborated with key members across the project including Discipline Lead Engineers, Project Managers,
Engineering Managers, and Designers, as well as with client on technical and construction issues.

• Liaised with onsite contractors such as Letab Projects and their subcontractors on quality requirements.

• Completed site base inspections and quality inspections during execution.

• Worked with client during each phase to ensure quality objectives were maintained. Prepared associated
materials and documentation in support of client handover due Oct 2014.

• Negotiated compensation events and the corresponding order amendments, Hard and Soft Rock excavations
(circa AUD150k, purchase of additional cable (circa $40k), and additional costs for site medicals and inductions (circa $10 000).

• Operated in conjunction with the company PCC for meeting P&L/profit objectives.



ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - Bakubung Platinum Mine, South Africa
The Bakubung Platinum Mine is a Greenfield project and will comprise of an underground mine with a twin vertical shaft
system - a main shaft and a ventilation shaft which will also function as the second escape route - and a process plant.

• Produced and updated electrical drawings on medium & low voltage power distribution, motor control
systems, cable selections, cable schedules, cable tray layouts, and lighting layouts.

• Compiled proposals and cost estimates for projects including tender documentation.

• Regularly reviewed and challenged design procedures and instructions; simplifying and improving design
where possible whilst meeting quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness of design.

• Ensured all design work conforms to the applicable specifications, codes & standards.

• Managed the production of the Social Labour Plan (SLP) package; a side project as part of the Bakubung
Mine's obligation to the community, to extend the Ledig Community Clinic and in the building of a Community
Office. This included (but not restricted to):
o Simulation of the LV Networks using ETAP (Software).
o Compiling Tender Documentation and Technically Adjudicating.
o Site Inspections.
o Electrical Reticulation Designs.
o Power Utility Upgrade Requests.

• Served as a key point of contact during project execution, providing key support to contractors during construction and commissioning, and undertaking progress meetings with appointed contractor.

• Completed site base inspections and commissioning of electrical installations during project execution.
Undertook factory acceptance tests (FAT) and quality inspections.

• Interacted with senior management, clients and contractors throughout the project.

• Completed the concept study behind a brownfield project, including site inspection of existing plant,
obtaining of the ETAP model, and preliminary designing of additional equipment.

• Detailed schedules for costing of equipment and supplies.

• Ensured that the level of design work is appropriate for the complexity of the construction tasks, achieving a
good balance between design costs and implementation costs.

• Reviewed and validated all work to ensure compliance against company standards. Working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Business Unit.
