Deputy Surveillance Coordinator

Disease Prevention & Control/ Ministry of Health

From September 2014

Work in close collaboration with the Division of Disease Prevention and Control in the coordination, supervision, and management of disease surveillance activities in accordance with the International Disease Surveillance & Response (IDSR) Guidelines. At the same time, the coordinator will provide technical support for the planning, implementation, monitoring, supervision, data collection, collation, investigation, analyses and reporting of all surveillance activities as required; as well as collaborate with other Divisions in surveillance and county health teams and other health partners in the country. Primary Tasks: Supervise the collection, collation, analyses and circulation of epidemiological data received from the 15 counties to all partners; Collaborate with other health partners to verify rumours of outbreaks and initiate timely investigation and report to requisite authority for prompt interventions Ensure that reportable diseases requiring samples collection are reported with specimens collected and sent on time Take periodic visit to the National Reference Laboratory to obtain results for all specimens investigated and put in place a robust feedback system Provide technical support to county surveillance teams during an outbreak situation and participate in response activities Coordinate with HMIS, FHD, etc. to harmonize quarterly maternal and newborn deaths data……..
