The project work aims to check the suitability of single piece composite drive shaft as a replacement for conventional two piece steel drive shaft in passenger cars. The two piece steel drive shaft contributes to the overall weight and production cost of the passenger car. Composite drive shafts offer the potential of lighter and longer life drive train with higher critical speed. Static, Buckling, Harmonic, and Natural frequency analysis of single piece composite drive shaft were carried out, and the results were compared with analytical results for validation. Simulation analysis was carried out by rotating the shaft for maximum speed, to see the live shear stress distribution of single piece composite drive shaft.
