I am a classically trained Soprano - my voice type is a 'soubrette' or light lyric soprano with some coloratura ability. My intonation is very good, my technique is ingrained in me from spending years with several Choral Directors who demanded nothing but strict attention!
I got an early start with the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus, having a huge opportunity to perform in a production of "I Pagliacci' at the then named O'Keefe Centre, on stage with the great Louis Quilico. Such an experience!
From there I have performed various works, musical productions, weddings, an Opera as an adult with my first leading role, and most recently, I have completed my first professional recording.
My family name is well known in the Opera and Jazz world, with both Russell Braun and Adi Braun already having made their mark - I follow their footsteps and am really just starting to 'put myself out there'! I hope you will follow me and watch my adventure as it unfolds.
In April of 2014, I booked my first recording session in a professional studio - the result was stunning to me! I loved the sound we created. My wonderful muscial partner and talented pianist is Peter Krochak - a relationship simply made in heaven! (Musically, that is!) <3
We completed 16 tracks 10 hours, with the helpful support of Bernie Cisternas as our Sound Engineer.
5 of our Tracks have just been produced and are available now on iTunes and CDBaby. Watch for Kira Braun Diamandas and Peter Krochak - 'Beautiful Dreams / Omorfa Oneira' Maurice Ravel's 5 Greek Folksongs!
Attached is an Audio of the 5th one. We'd be so thrilled if you download our album from iTunes!
Here's a link to iTunes where you can find it. https://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/beautiful-memories-omorfa/id878271012
Fundraiser Recital - June 2013
I produced and performed in a Recital to raise money for my participation in the Weekend to End Women's Cancers in 2013, and then walked the 60km with my son Alex. In the Recital I sang several pieces of varied repertoire, including Ach, Ich Fuhl's, Vedrai Carino, O Mio Babbino Caro, and then 5 Greek Folksongs by Ravel. I learned the Greek Folksongs to please my husband's family and they were a big hit! I had guest performers at this Recital including Peter Krochak on Piano, and Karolina Kubalkova on Piano, as well as Carlos Melendez on Clarinet, and a lovely duet with my voice teacher Linda (Osborne) Condy, and last but not least, the handsome and talented James Baskin doing a few voice & piano covers - all were brilliant!
The Finale was an arrangement by Peter Krochak of 'I Love a Piano' by Irving Berlin -Attached is the video! It got some great laughs too.
The entire thing was videotaped by my friends Hema Parekh and photographed by Neel Modi :)
Carmen - Toronto City Opera
In February of 2014 I performed my Operatic Debut as 'Frasquita' with Toronto City Opera in their production of Carmen. This was a fully staged and costumed Opera performance. Of six performances, I sang three as Frasquita and the other three, I participated in the Chorus - I therefore had to learn virtually the entire Opera!
That's me on the left!
